With summer in sight, temperatures are climbing higher and higher on the Costa Del Sol. Ideal for sunbathing on the beach for a few days. The idea of sun, sea and beach only becomes more beautiful when you know that Spain is the world leader in most quality beaches.

What makes the beaches in Spain so special?

With no less than 579 blue flags, Spain has been awarded the world’s most beautiful and cleanest beaches. For those of us who do not know the meaning of the Blue Flag: The Blue Flag is an eco-label of the non-profit organization “Foundation for Environmental Education” (FEE). This label has only been awarded to 3372 beaches around the world.

So in addition to their beauty, the beaches are also of the highest quality. On the Costa Del Sol there are no less than 90 blue flags.

Playa de San Pedro, San Pedro de Alcántara (Marbella)

The beach in San Pedro has everything you need for a carefree afternoon on the beach. It is a large beach with lots of parking facilities and a lot of shops to buy drinks and food.

Playa Artola, Cabopino (Marbella)

This piece of beach is in possession of white, natural sand. This sand is much whiter and finer than the sand on the other beaches. Moreover, it is surrounded by dunes that give the view an extra touch.

Playa del Cristo, Estepona

Literally the beach of Christ is one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches of the Costa Del Sol. Playa del Cristo is in possession of a blue flag. The beach is located near the port of Estepona and the water is quite shallow. This makes the water warm and ideal for small children.

Playa Hermosa, Marbella

Playa Hermosa is a popular beach among many holidaymakers and locals. The beach is relatively small, but has shallow water, which makes it ideal for small children. There are also typical restaurants and shops. It is only 15 minutes from the center of Marbella.

Venus-Bajadilla, Marbella

Venus-Bajadilla is the most centrally located beach in Marbella with many bushes and palm trees providing shade. Also here, there is a long boulevard with a lot of nice shops.
