One of the most beautiful sections of the Costa del Sol lies between Sotogrande and Estepona. A less developed part of the coastline with a dramatic mountain backdrop and green landscape. This area offers a beautiful natural environment. It is therefore not surprising to discover that it is also home to some of the most exclusive neighborhoods on the western Costa del Sol.

Some enjoy proximity to the sandy coastline, while others are nestled in the rolling foothills of the mountains. Stunning views are standard, as are some of the best homes you’ll find in southern Spain (and in fact, Europe).

1. La Zagaleta in Benahavís

When it comes to exclusive neighborhoods on the Costa del Sol, La Zagaleta stands head and shoulders above all others. This secluded private estate (900 hectares), located on the road to Ronda, about 13 km from Marbella, is a select sanctuary of multi-million euro homes. Many belong to the world’s rich and famous, and all enjoy unparalleled on-site amenities.

What makes this area so exclusive? The privileged location and absolute discretion – you will never know who your neighbors are.

2. La Reserva in Sotogrande

At the far western end of the Costa del Sol lies the beautiful private community of Sotogrande. It has been synonymous with exclusivity since its inception. The luxurious residential development is among the best in Europe, and like La Zagaleta, it offers privacy and discretion. One of the best neighborhoods in Sotogrande is La Reserva, located in the foothills of the interior. It has its own golf course (there are five in total in Sotogrande), as well as an inland beach club with a freshwater lagoon.

3. Finca Cortesin in Casares

Tucked away in a privileged location near the beautiful white village of Casares, Finca Cortesin brings together all the elements of luxury living. Cork oak forests crisscross the landscape, while beautiful mountains rise to the north and the Mediterranean Sea shimmers to the south. La Finca has impressive views of all this and the advantage of being just a few minutes’ drive from the Sotogrande marina and the local beach.

Designed as an exclusive hideaway, this part of Sotogrande may be one of the most recently developed, but it is already among the best.

What makes this area so exclusive? A secluded location, but with easy access to the amenities of Sotogrande.

La Finca Sotogrande: Luxury homes from €410,000
